How I Photograph a Wedding Day…
Creative, Unposed Photography
So what is “natural wedding photography” – and as a picture paints a thousand words, below is a small selection of wedding photographs that show my natural style to capturing the moments of your wedding day.
Creative in approach but totally unobtrusive, my natural style is often called documentary, candid or reportage wedding photography.
Natural to me means unposed but creative – so if you’re like me, someone who doesn’t like posing in front of the camera, then my style is ideal as you can enjoy your wedding day with very little direction from me!
Overall – my aim is for you to receive fun, creative, natural wedding photographs for you to enjoy for years to come.
Emotional, Natural Photography
The moments in my photographs are real.
No awkward posing – ever.
I want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and enjoy your wedding day with friends and family and definitely not turn it in to a photo shoot!
Using sophisticated cameras, I am able to be a silent, non-invasive presence – but will also have a chat with your mother-in-law if she wants to!
Anyway, I’ll let the photographs below do the talking so do check them out…
The Bridal Party Getting Ready…
The butterflies and anticipation… the morning of your wedding day you’ll be experiencing a whirlwind of emotions.
I’ve seen plenty of Dads get choked up at seeing their darling daughter in their wedding dress for the first time… I may get a little emotional at this point too as the happiness fills the air!
When you get ready for your wedding day, you will feel a stunning range of vivid emotions and as your photographer my aim is to create images that in many years from your wedding day, you can look back and be reminded of the happiness, joy and wonder you felt in the moments immediately before you got married.
The Groomsmen Getting Ready…
What a contrast this is compared the bridal preparations! I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been greeted by groomsmen in their underwear! The Groom and his party always have a good laugh before the wedding day with plenty of larking around and banter.
If time allows in your wedding day schedule, it’s great to have photographs of the groomsmen preparations before they head off to the wedding ceremony. Using my non-obtrusive style and fitting seamlessly around their banter, my photographs will bring a smile to your face as you can check out what the boys got up to that morning!
After I depart from the preparations, I like to arrive around thirty minutes before the ceremony starts to capture the setting of the wedding day.
Without distracting or imposing, I photograph the wedding ceremony in a discrete way with no annoying “camera clicking” or distracting flashes – so you can focus on what’s important – marrying your loved one.
From the giggles and smiles to the tears of joy, you’ll receive many treasured photographs of your wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, I’ll be there to capture the moments as friends and family come alive with hugs and confetti to congratulate you!
The Drinks Reception…
Whilst your guests will be quaffing the champagne and canapés, the drinks reception is often a good time to take the family photographs. I aim to carry out this as swiftly as possible so you can get back to spending time with your friends and family – so I can then capture some moments like these…
The Couple Photographs…
Your couple photographs are often the first time on your wedding day that you get to spend any quality time together. I like to take my couples on a small walk, allowing me to create photos that include the length of the natural backdrop as well as the breadth of your venue’s architecture.
My approach to your couple photographs is to find some nice light, locations and give you some gentle direction as and when – with the promise of no awkward posing! I guarantee some giggles which makes the most nervous brides and grooms relax.
The Wedding Reception…
A particularly unique and memorable part that really is unique to every wedding are the wedding breakfast speeches!
A discrete addition in the backdrop, you will hardly notice my presence capturing those tender moments as you glance at your now husband… as well as the chuckles elicited from the best man’s jokes!
Hearing the heartfelt words from the father of the bride and capturing the loving glances are one of the best parts of my job.
The Dance Floor…
The only time I may well use flash on the day will be on the dance floor itself. I always aim to create images that creatively capture those fun moments – from the first dance to those “dad dancing” moves – I will make sure to capture the awkward chicken dance, drunken pouts and emotional hugging!
If you like what you see…
The above are a small selection of photographs that show my style and approach to a wedding day.
If these images make you smile or even shed a tear, then you have found your wedding photographer!
